Recipient of Action
Housing’s Award of Recognition in Housing 2009

Ottawa, October 1, 2009: Action Housing recently announced that Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation was the winner of its new Award of Recognition in Housing.

Through its Award of Recognition in Housing, Action-Logement / Action Housing honors non profit and non governmental organizations, individuals within the private and public sectors, as well as anyone who has exhibited excellence or innovation in the field of housing, and more specifically, has been an advocate in the struggle against homelessness and in assisting marginalized populations who are poorly housed.

This year the Award went to the Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation. A non-profit housing organization which, since the 70s, has been community-based, tenant and member directed whose mission is to create, maintain and promote housing for low and moderate income people. CCOC manages 48 properties worth $ 80 million and provides affordable housing to hundreds of people. The organization is very proactive and is not afraid to take risks in creating housing opportunities for disadvantaged people and those with distinct housing needs. CCOC has a history of innovation, creativity, and dynamism in serving a diverse tenant and member population. The CCOC is dedicated to developing is dedicated to developing sustainable and ecological sound Housing. The Executive Coordinator Catherine Boucher who has worked at CCOC since 1978 and is now about to retire, was thanked for her commitment in finding solutions to the housing issues and problems of many.
