2012 AWARD OF RECOGNITION IN HOUSING

The Award of Recognition in Housing is an initiative of Action Housing to promote best practices in a program, a strategy or an initiative that has been developed within the last two years). Although it is essential that the candidates demonstrate their commitment towards the struggle against homelessness and assisting marginalized communities, the Award is granted for specific best practices programs and not work that is carried out on a day-to-day basis. An organization, group or individual can have more then one submission.

 

With its Award of Recognition in Housing, Action Housing honors non-profit and non-governmental organizations, individuals within the private and public sectors, or anyone who has shown excellence or innovation in the field of housing, and more specifically, has been an advocate in the struggle against homelessness and has assisted marginalized populations who have faced housing issues. The Award ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 27th, 2012, during Action Housing‘s Annual Benefit Cocktail, in the Jean-Pigott Hall at the Ottawa City Hall.

 

Eligiblity:  Non-profit and non-governmental organizations, individuals within the private and public sectors, as well as any citizen of Ottawa are eligible.

 

Deadline: All submissions for candidacy must be submitted by Friday June 22, 2012.

 

Nominations: Nominations for candidacy can be presented by an official organization, by an individual or a group submitting their own candidate.

 

Adjudication and Submissions: Action-Housing will appoint a jury composed of 3 members: one member from their own Board of Directors and two other members from the community. The members of the Jury examine the candidates and make their selection. The decision of the jury cannot be appealed.

 

To submit a candidacy, you need to complete the application form and send it to Axion (c/o Action-Logement/Action Housing), at the latest on Friday, June 22, 2012, to lsavard@axionplus.biz. Action Housing reserves the right to publish the information on the award-winner on its Web site and in any other medium of promotion.

 

Prize: The Award winner will receive a commemorative plaque during Action Housing‘s Annual Benefit Cocktail on Thursday, September 27th, 2012.
