WINNERS OF THE 5TH EDITION OF THE AWARD
OF RECOGNITION IN HOUSING ANNOUNCED
The winner of the 5th edition of the Award of Recognition in Housing was announced during the 8th Action Housing Benefit Cocktail, which took place last September 27th, 2012. This award honours non-profit, non-governmental organizations, as well as private and public sector individuals who have made significant contributions to housing, particularly as it relates to the fight against homelessness, and the need to better assist marginalized populations facing housing issues.
Action Housing also seized the opportunity to present the Award of Recognition in Housing - Individual Category to Rosine Kaley, Action Housing’s former Executive Director who, for over 20 years, skillfully steered the development of the organization.

The Multifaith Housing Initiative’s mandate is to assist low-income persons to find housing, regardless of their religious affiliations. Since 2002, this non-profit organization, in partnership with government and other area organizations, has sought to facilitate the provision of adequate, accessible, and affordable home space for those who otherwise cannot meet their basic needs, and to encourage programs, which nurture persons within their communities.

Rosine Kaley dedicated a part of her life to assist the homeless in the region. As the Executive Director of Action Housing for over 20 years, she has always been deeply involved with several organizations assisting the homeless and persons at risk of losing their home. Not only has she been instrumental in the creation of the CPIFO (Coalition pour prévenir l’itinérance chez les francophones d’Ottawa), but she has also has a long professional relationship with many organizations and committees to further promote the cause of the homeless.
“The Awards of Recognition in Housing are intended to promote exemplary practices”, says the Executive Director Action Housing, Arnel Guillemette. “The finalists for these yearly awards are organizations and individuals who, like us, are committed to fully and significantly help the less fortunate in our area to access affordable housing”.
